A couple of years ago I happened past Aux Merveilleux de Fred in the 7th arrondissement just a few blocks from the iconic Eiffel Tower. The crowd drew my attention and the window display of heavenly pastries pulled me in. One bite of their delicious whipped cream covered meringues and I was forever changed. So much so that I wrote this piece on Aux Merveilleux de Fred on Locally Experienced in 2014.
In January of 2015, I was back in Paris and I was thrilled to see several other locations had opened across the City of Lights. That excitement was only exceeded when I happened upon their new NYC location in the West Village.
I'm typically not a fan of globalization when it comes to shops such as these as there is something special about only being able to enjoy these experiences in their home country, but I most admit that I'm so willing to look the other way in the case of these pastries. They have shops in London and Belgium as well. So, why not here?
